Hi, glad to have you here. My name is Sierra Schlag. I'm a Japanese-American skier, storyteller, social media manger and word writer (that list long enough?) based in Carbondale, CO. My hope is to make the outdoor industry a more equitable place. Want to learn more about me? Keep scrolling!
I've been skiing since I was two years old, learning in my driveway on the east coast. My family moved to Park City, UT when I was nine and I started competing in moguls and halfpipe. My ski career has evolved from competition and recreation to a professional career in big mountain, backcountry and ski mountaineering.
Supported by: OnX Backcountry, Atomic, Picture Organic Clothing, AspenSnowmass, ZipFit Liners, MountainFLOW Eco Wax, Slut Strand Society and SheJumps.
A ski career and film making seem to go hand in hand nowadays. I released my first film, Bloom, in 2022 that followed my grief journey after losing my dad in 9/11 and how I've used skiing as a way to heal.
This winter I had the pleasure of working on two film projects: Chop Your Own Wood and Advice for Girls.
I've got to pay the bills somehow! I've worked in the social media world going on 6 years now. Why? Good question, maybe my addiction for Instagram and TikTok is paying off? Or this field of work is just making it worse... Either way I can help your brand succeed on social networks like: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn or TikTok.
I had my start creating graphics for 350.org which evolved into full social media management for small brands (SnowLocals and AdventureLocals). I leveled up and landed a job at evo heading up their entire social media program and I recently left to pursue skiing and freelance working with clients like Picture Organic Clothing.
My time writing for the University of Denver Clarion really paid off because brands now let me write words for them here and there. While this is a small pursuit of mine, it's still cool to say I've written things for Teton Gravity Research and Atomic. (Every time I post these on LinkedIn, my high school friends think I'm the coolest - so at least I have that going for me).
